Overcoming the Overwhelming...

"I want a hamburger with fresh cut fries covered in fry sauce and, a large Pepsi." That's what I wanted to tell the waitress last night.  Actually that is all I could think about yesterday was having that meal. As we headed to the restaurant last night I KNEW I was going to have that meal. I have been good for so long, I could be bad just this once.  Right?!

Weigh in Day and 100 Reasons Why I Won't Quit...

He's back!! Yeah baby!
It has been four weeks since my last weigh in and... look at that little guy dance! That's right, I have just finished the 8th week of my new lifestyle and I am officially 290.2lbs! That means over the last four weeks I have lost 7.8lbs for a grand total of.... drum roll please.... -24.9lbs! I'm feeling wonderful and am super excited to keep moving forward.

You Want My Kidney?

One of the most amazing things about living this new lifestyle is the amazing fresh and tasty food I have been eating. And let me tell you, I love food! One of the biggest challenges is finding affordable good quality grass fed meats and organic vegetables. You see, I live 2hrs from the closest Walmart. You read that right I said Walmart not Whole Foods or Sprouts or any other type of healthy grocery chain. Our closest grocery store is City Market and they are super limited on their choices. And, I live in the desert. There are not huge farmers markets or choices to purchase free range... anything. Don't get me wrong, we have a great little health food store here and, I sometimes purchase from them but can't afford to get all my food there because I only have two kidneys and I gave them one the last time (For example, I bought a 16oz jar of walnut oil for $12.99 then, while we were in Provo, UT I stopped by a Sprouts and found the same bottle for $5.99... just a little marked up wouldn't you say?). Oh! And guess what?!  It's lay-off season in Moab (Part of a tourist economy) and I'm on the list. Long story short: Things are hard to obtain, expensive, and funds are going to get REALLY tight.

A Word of Warning....

This is how I thought the world looked the first two weeks
I have received many messages over that last few days stating that I have inspired people to try to "go Primal". While this is great for so many reasons and I fully encourage them to do so, there are some not so fun things to look forward to for your first week or two and, I don't want you going into this unaware. So, I will tell you about my first two weeks so at least you have something. That being said, not everyone will have the same results. Some will have no physical stress, some will have more but, all I have to share is my own experience.

Excuses, Excuses, Excuses...

I don't want to do this. I can't do this. This is too hard. I have so far to go why even try. I'm not seeing changes fast enough  I'm the only one that cares. But, they lost weight faster than I am. It's too cold, wet, hot, dark, dreary, bright, to go outside for a walk  I don't have time. I'm tired. Wait, just a few more minutes on FACEBOOK. Maybe after this show. No one notices. Now I don't have any clothes that fit. I'll only have it this once. I don't feel good. My body hurts. I hate walking the dog, he's nothing but a tornado on a string. I don't want anyone to see me. I worked all day. It's my lazy day. One bite won't hurt. I'm too busy. It's too expensive. I always fail anyway. I'll do it tomorrow. It's too hard. I'm too fat. It's boring.

Recipe Day: Olive Garden's Zuppa Toscana... Primal Style

Stormy Fall Evening in Moab
Fall has really been making an appearance in Moab the last few days. Just last week the temperature reached 109°F (43°C for my Canadian friends) and this week, we were as low as 58°F (14°C)!! Autumn means I can start cooking soups and stews. To me, there is nothing like a piping hot bowl of goodness to warm you up and make you feel cozy!

While I would not normally write a blog today, I feel the need to honor this day. Please bear with me.

Crafty Motivation...

I am not a generally crafty person. You will not find my home filled with lovely things that I have made. I don't give out homemade gifts often, I am fairly artistically challenged and I never would have thought of this without Pinterest. That being said, I think they came out pretty fantastic and I love seeing the pieces move from one jar to another. All that being said, here is how I made my jars...

We Interrupt this Regularly Scheduled Blog for a Little Fun...

I can't even begin to tell you how amazing my husband can be! We have this thing, one week I schedule a little something to do the next week, is his turn. It can be little like a picnic or, a movie. This time my husband planned an early anniversary trip and took me up to ride the Durango & Silverton Narrow Gauge Railroad!

Friends, Fun, and Lessons Learned...

This weekend being Labor Day weekend and the unofficial "end of summer" has posed a few challenges!  Because of where I live, Labor Day brings in thousands of tourists and with that tons of our friends that we only see a couple of times a year. While I absolutely love seeing all of our friends and spending as much time with them as I can, they also love going out to eat in Moab's amazing restaurants... A LOT.  Now, don't get me wrong, I love going out to eat too but finding things that are "OK" to eat and, that meal being something that I will enjoy, has been a challenge.   So what have I learned this weekend?
