A New Year's Eve Reflection of 2013

I've been gone awhile! The holidays have been filled with so much activity that I was much too busy to find time to blog. I wish I had, because I truly feel that I lose so much better when I am keeping my blog and weight loss in the front of my mind. I will do better than I have this last little while in 2014. I hope that while I have been gone you have also had a lovely holiday season!

Looking back over this past year, I can hardly believe how much has changed for me. In January of this year, we took a fantastic cruise with some of our great friends. We saw Hondurus, Belize and Cozumel. I love cruising, and can't wait to do another one! I also started working at a new job as a receptonist for the winter months (our town is very seasonal, and winter jobs are hard to find). I loved the job and was glad to hear they wanted me back this past December.

February and March were filled with lots of time spent getting my beautiful niece, Josey,  ready for her dance competitions and school. Then, my favorite time of year: Easter Jeep Safari.  My house fills with friends we rarely see and we make so many new ones. It's a week long wheeling, laughing, tiring party. Our friend from Israel also came during Jeep Safari and stayed a few days after.

April and May, while not particularly busy, included prom for my neice, and
starting yet another new job. In the long run this job is what changed my life. It's because of two of the pilots there that I began my journey, and I am so very grateful to them both. My parents came to visit also, the first time that they have come out together for any length of time. We adopted our newest dog Wheeler, the spastic thing. My husband also competed in the "Old School Rock Crawl" and we had fantastic time there. He didn't do as well as he had hoped, but it is always a blast to be there with our friends.

June and July were busy months! In June my niece went home to Wyoming and I was just terribly
busy at work. My Grandfather also passed away and I went home for his funeral. It was bittersweet to see my family for such a sad time. My nephew Ryan also came to stay in Moab as a river guide. It was a joy having him here during the summer months. In July, I was still busy at work, our friends from Israel came out again with a jeeping group, and as always, we enjoyed their stay. We just wished they lived closer so we could see them more often.

August and September were filled with huge changes for me personally! I started on this journey with no idea how it would go. I changed everything and my weight began to literally fall off. In the first month I lost 15lbs. I started writing this blog and, started a facebook page. I have been completely blown away by the support that I have received from everyone. Granted, there have been a few naysayers, but I say they can stick it! My amazing husband and I also took a fantastic early anniversary trip on the Durango/Silverton Railroad. It was amazing!

October and November were again filled with so much joy and busyness! My job was supposed to end on October 1st but got extended to December 1st. Our good friends from Canada came down to go skydiving and teach me to make sausage. She brought be bras too! Gotta love new bras! At the end of October, we had to put our amazing dog Gunner down. He had Lymphoma and was in a lot of pain. That was truly the worst part of our year. Then in November, I and our friends Orly and Amit from Israel, set up a surprise trip for my husband to Las Vegas and the SEMA show. If you don't know what that is, I'll just say it is largest auto trade show in the world. They then came back home with us and we spent a few days with them here. The time with them went much to quickly as usual. We then had a great Thanksgiving with our friends from the Dirt Hedz jeeping club.

December seemed so hectic, but when I really think about it, it has been very relaxing. My husband and I went back to Colorado to visit my family. I got to spend some good quality time with them and especially my 2yr old nephew Colt. I love him so much! I then started back with the job I mentioned in the beginning and will continue with them through April. David and I spent some time cleaning out some storage areas that really needed cleaning out, and purging a lot of stuff we didn't really need. We then spent a very nice, quiet Christmas together. This was the first time we have spent a Christmas with just the two of us and I have to say.... I loved it!

All in all, this has been a very busy but joyful year, and I am blown away by the all the things we have managed to fit into it. I couldn't be happier with how my life is turning out to be!

My goal for 2014 is to continue to have a joy filled life, and maybe, just maybe meet my weight loss goal!

I wish you all the very best in 2014 and hope you have a very happy and safe New Years Eve! I also hope you reach all your goals for the coming year!

Happy New Year!
